How to Stay Positive During Difficult Times
How do you stay positive during hard times?
You’re probably reading this now because you’re in a fix, which can range from finances to inflation in the country to family conflicts and all that.
But despite all these tough situations, you can still scale through them and become victorious; you can overcome the storm in your life and restore peace.
In this article, you will learn how to stay positive during difficult times. Before we dive right in, I need you to know that I have also passed through difficult moments, and most of the strategies here helped me stay positive, and I know they will help you too. That said, let’s dive into it.
Celebrate little wins:
Most times, we focus on our problems and forget that no matter how small, we should celebrate our little wins.
Start celebrating those little wins.
It can be telling yourself, “I did well.” It can involve posting your certificate or award on social media. Receiving those congratulations is therapy on its own. You can take yourself out or just praise yourself for doing a great job.
When you begin to apply this principle, you’ll learn to stay positive regardless of the turbulence in your life.
There is something to be grateful for:
See, regardless of what you are currently going through, you have something to be grateful for.
If not for anything else, your life itself is a gift. People lose their lives every second.
If you are going through a hard time and you wish to end it here, remember that someone like you is wishing to be alive right now.
You might be going through a financial challenge, but the fact that you can work and pay off all your debts is a gift.
Life itself is a gift. This present moment is a gift.
Can you see that you have so many things to be grateful for?
Now, write them down and give thanks to God.
Focus on the things you can control:
As Tony Robbins once said, “What is right is available, and so is what is wrong.”
If the country is in turmoil, are you the president? so If you have no power whatsoever over it, why worry about it?
If you can’t change your country’s finances, then the better choice is to work on and increase your personal finances.
If you have a bad president, then what you can do is vote for a better president in the next election.
Don’t give yourself headaches over what you can’t control.
Focusing on the things you can control opens the pathway of how to stay positive for you.
Speak what you want to see:
People say, “A closed mouth is a sealed destiny.”
See, the Bible says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” This is simply talking about the power you have when you speak. Your words are spirit, and they are life.
Proclaim the future you want to see. Proclaim a better you. Speak out what you want to see in your business, career, etc.
You can use affirmations in this regard.
Live in the present:
See, most times, we get so worked up because of our future. You’ve barely even fully maximized your present self; you’re worrying about your future self.
This is why some people are so absent-minded and don’t notice things.
From today, start noticing the things around you. Live intentionally. Live in the present. Learn how to stay positive in the present moment. Don’t let your future rob you of this moment. See, you can never have another yesterday.
Now, I’m not saying you should spend your life anyhow; I’m simply saying if you were 20 years older than you are right now, would you be glad about how you lived your life today?
Ask for help:
Les Brown once said, “Ask for help, not because you are weak but because you want to remain strong. Ask for help, and don’t stop until you get it.”
See, it’s okay if you can’t figure it out on your own. God didn’t create humans to be isolated; he created us for one another.
So, you should ask for assistance when necessary. In fact, people love it when you ask for their help. And If your request was declined, don’t take it personally, because knowing how to handle rejection will help you stay positive.
So, make sure you ask for help again (maybe from someone else), and don’t stop until you get it.
- Help people: This sounds ironic and seems like sarcasm, right?
How can someone who needs help—or how can someone who is in a difficult situation—help someone else?
Well, you’re belittling what you have and carry.
No matter how bad your situation is, you can help someone. And the good news is that you will not only bring a smile to the person’s face, but you’ll also feel good and positive.
So show kindness to people.
- Do something fun:
“Now is not the time for play,” you are probably mumbling under your breath.
No! This is actually the right time.
Don’t you want to know how to stay positive?
Now is the time to play your favorite fun games, go to Hangouts, watch comedy shows and skits, hang out on a call, and do other things.
Don’t let the negative situation steal your joy. Protect your joy and positivity at all costs. Yes, it won’t be easy, but it’s doable.
And these eight steps are how to stay positive during difficult times.
