There is a never-ending love of parents for their children. Every parent had a dream to see their children become successful and good people in life. But did you ever notice that the parenting style is the first-ever step for your children’s growth? The majority of the parents are unknown to that.

In fact, your parenting style affects your children’s behaviour, personality, or character and influences them for the rest of their life. How you interact with your child, what rules you implement on him, and how you behave with him all are involved in parenting styles.

In your children’s healthy growth, your parenting style should be enough supporting, which helps them further to become prosperous and well-mannered in life.

Researchers have identified four different parenting styles depending on the supports and control parents exercise on children. Each parenting style has its pros and cons and impacts differently child’s psychological development. Here are the 4 main parenting styles and their effects on kids.

Types of Parenting Style:

Authoritative Parenting:

Authoritative parents are keen and very responsible for their children’s growth. They set rules but also give the children a proper account to question them. Authoritative parents don’t punish children for breaking the rule because they want to give their child the authority to learn from mistakes. They’re open to negotiation, very keen to listen to their child’s problems, and willing to fulfil their little one’s wishes. Children who grow up in authoritative parenting tend to be well-mannered, self-controlled, well-educated, and achievement-oriented.

Authoritarian Parenting:

There is a considerable difference between authoritative and authoritarian parenting. In this parenting style, parents set high standards for their children and want them to fulfill them without questioning them. Authoritarian parents primarily use punishing methods (not rewards) to raise their children. They are strict when the children dare to break the rules. Children who grow up in authoritarian parenting are mannered wise discipline but, due to the precise environment, also suffer from low self-esteem and depression in life.

Permissive Parenting:

Permissive parents don’t believe in creating boundaries and enforcing rules on their children. They don’t set high standards for their children and follow their hearts’ direction without giving them proper guidance or advice. These types of parents are also friendly and less demanding. They mostly have an open conversation with their kids. Children who grow-up in permissive parenting are free thinkers and confident but also lack discipline and perform poorly in academics.

Uninvolved Parenting:

Uninvolved parents don’t care about their children and give them a lot of freedom to do everything without objection. They don’t give much time to their children and are unresponsive to their kid’s needs. This type of parenting is also considered as most harmful parenting style. Uninvolved parents don’t give proper guidance to their children, don’t take care of their conversation, and aren’t willing to listen to their questions. Children who grow up in uninvolved parenting have low self-esteem, lack of self-control, and are less competent than others.
